About Busy Bees

At Busy Bees, we believe childhood should be filled with curiosity, confidence, and joy. We are a family-owned childcare and preschool program dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

Located in the heart of Rockville community, since 2014, Busy Bees serves children from infancy through preschool, offering developmentally appropriate programs that support each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Our classrooms are designed to encourage exploration, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

What truly sets Busy Bees apart is our warm, experienced teaching team and our strong partnerships with families. We believe that open communication and collaboration are essential to a child’s success, and we take pride in building trusting, lasting relationships with the families we serve.

Our program embraces diversity and inclusion, supporting multilingual learners and welcoming families from all backgrounds. In addition to our core curriculum, we offer enriching extracurricular activities such as music, movement, yoga, ballet, and karate, giving children opportunities to discover new interests and talents.

Programs & Classrooms

At Busy Bees, our programs are thoughtfully designed to meet children where they are developmentally while encouraging confidence, curiosity, and independence. Each classroom provides a nurturing environment tailored to the unique needs of every age group.

🐝 Infants

Our infant program focuses on providing a warm, responsive, and secure environment where babies feel safe and loved. Teachers work closely with families to follow individual routines for feeding, sleeping, and play, while supporting early motor skills, sensory exploration, and emotional bonding.

🐝 Toddlers

The toddler classroom is a place of discovery and growing independence. Through hands-on activities, music, movement, and guided play, toddlers develop language skills, social interaction, and early problem-solving abilities in a structured yet flexible setting.

🐝 Twos

Our twos program supports children as they gain confidence, communication skills, and independence. Teachers introduce early learning concepts through play-based activities while focusing on social-emotional development, self-help skills, and positive peer interactions.

🐝 Preschool

The preschool program prepares children for kindergarten by nurturing early literacy, math, and critical thinking skills. Children engage in meaningful learning experiences that promote creativity, collaboration, and confidence, all while having fun in a supportive classroom community.

🌟 Enrichment & Extracurriculars

In addition to our core programs, Busy Bees offers a variety of enrichment opportunities such as music, yoga, ballet, karate, and movement classes, allowing children to explore new interests and talents in a joyful and age-appropriate way.

Each Busy Bees classroom is led by experienced, caring educators who are committed to helping every child feel valued, supported, and excited to learn.

Teacher-to-Child Ratios

At Busy Bees, we follow all Maryland state licensing requirements for teacher-to-child ratios to ensure a safe, well-supervised, and nurturing environment for every child.

Our ratios are:

Infants: 1:3
Toddlers: 1:3
Twos: 1:4
Preschool: 1:8

Maintaining appropriate ratios allows our teachers to provide individualized attention and consistent supervision throughout the day.

Play-Based Curriculum

Busy Bees follows a play-based curriculum that supports children’s natural curiosity and love of learning. Through hands-on activities, guided play, and age-appropriate experiences, children develop early literacy, math, social-emotional, and problem-solving skills in a joyful and engaging environment. Our teachers thoughtfully guide learning while allowing children to explore, create, and grow at their own pace.

Our Teachers & Training

Our teachers are the heart of Busy Bees. Each educator is carefully selected for their experience, compassion, and dedication to early childhood education. Our staff meets all Maryland licensing requirements and participates in ongoing professional development, including training in child development, health and safety, and classroom best practices. We are committed to providing consistent, high-quality care led by educators who truly know and support every child.

Schedule Options & Flexibility

Busy Bees offers both full-time and part-time enrollment options to meet the needs of our families.
Part-time enrollment is available as 2 or 3 full days per week, providing consistency for children while offering flexibility for families. Full-time schedules are also available for families who need care five days per week.

We are happy to discuss availability and help families choose the schedule that works best for them.

Tuition & Assistance Programs

Busy Bees proudly participates in CCS, WPA, and MCCYN childcare assistance programs, helping support families with a variety of tuition needs.

Tuition rates vary by age group and schedule and are available upon request. We are happy to discuss options, answer questions, and help guide families through the enrollment and assistance process.

Camps, Parent’s Night Out & Drop-In Care

Busy Bees offers additional childcare options designed to support families beyond regular enrollment hours.

🌙 Parent’s Night Out (PNO)

Our Parent’s Night Out events give families a chance to enjoy a well-deserved evening off while children have fun in a safe, supervised environment. PNO is open to:

Currently enrolled Busy Bees students
Their siblings
Outside children

Ages: 1–15 years old

🕒 Drop-In Care

We offer drop-in care on select days for families who need occasional childcare. This option is available for:

Siblings
Outside families

Availability is limited and based on staffing and ratios, so advance sign-up is required.

🌞 Camps & Special Programs

Busy Bees also hosts camp days and special programs during school breaks and throughout the year. Camps are open to:
